Waves break on the rocks along this stretch of the Sea of Cortez. The grounds are laid out in stone-walled gardens and courtyards, with palm-fringed pools, an infinity-edge pool beside the beach and a spa entered through wooden gates under a palapa roof.
The Casitas measure 925 square feet, each with a large private terrace and many with an infinity-edge hot tub. The suites range from 1,200 to 2,000 square feet, with views of the Sea of Cortez from the bed or from a hot tub on the terrace. The one-, three- and four-bedroom casonas have a living room, dining table, full kitchen, washer and dryer and a terrace with a grill, and include airport transfers, bicycles and s'mores kits. Villas run from two bedrooms at 2,400 square feet to four bedrooms at 4,000 square feet, and a Hacienda comes with its own Hacienda Host and twice-daily housekeeping.
The resort has five restaurants, and Chef Orli Del Angel designs the menus around contemporary Mexican cooking and Baja ingredients. Cocina del Mar stands on a rocky promontory surrounded by crashing waves and serves just-caught seafood. La Palapa is a casual spot for ceviche and tacos with a swim-up bar, Las Estrellas is Mediterranean-inspired, and La Terraza Americana sits among the family pools.
The Spa at Esperanza is built on the Medicine Wheel, with Wellness Journeys, oceanfront massage cabanas and the Pasaje de Agua hydrotherapy circuit. The resort arranges whale watching on the Sea of Cortez, horseback riding through a desert canyon, sea foraging with the chef and a kids' and teens' club.
Esperanza suits families and groups who want space, as well as couples who want a stretch of private coast.
