The resort overlooks the bay, with lagoon-style pools, botanical gardens with koi ponds and waterfalls, and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course beside it. It is a five-minute drive from the harbour and 20 minutes from Lanai City, the former plantation town.
Rooms are Garden View rooms, Ocean View rooms, and oceanfront rooms with balconies, with larger suites above them. The corner suites have a wall of windows opening to a private lanai and a separate living area. The Penthouse Suites are the most expansive on the resort, with private balconies over the Pacific and full marble bathrooms. The two-bedroom Alii Suite has a media room, a library and three open-air lanais, and the Ohana suites are made for families of four or five.
Nobu Lanai, run by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, serves Japanese cooking above the ocean, with an interactive 15-course teppanyaki dinner. Osteria Mozza Lanai brings Nancy Silverton's Italian menu to the island with local ingredients. A poolside restaurant above Hulopoe Bay serves lunch, Malibu Farm Bar serves coffee by day and cocktails by night, and a restaurant at Manele Golf Course looks across 180 degrees of water.
Hawanawana Spa offers scrubs, wraps, facials and treatments inspired by the island, with AntiGravity yoga in silk hammocks. The golf course has ocean views on every hole. Guests can book a private catamaran charter, a sloop cruise to snorkel and listen for humpback whales, a 4x4 Jeep tour and sessions with the resort's Lanai cultural advisors.
Lanai Air flies round trip between Honolulu and Lanai, included with every stay, and shuttles on the island are complimentary. The resort suits couples, families and golfers who want an island with no crowds.
